Our editorial mission
CloverBear publishes practical, testable houseplant care guidance for beginner and intermediate plant owners. We aim for content that's specific enough to actually follow, honest about uncertainty, and free of unnecessary padding or filler.
Editorial independence
Our content decisions — what to cover, what to recommend, and how to frame a topic — are made independently of advertising relationships. Advertising, where present, does not influence which plants, products, or practices we recommend. See our Advertising Disclosure for more detail.
How we choose topics
We prioritize topics with genuine search demand and clear informational intent, organized around a small number of focused categories rather than spreading across unrelated subjects. Every article is checked against our existing library before publication to avoid duplicate or overlapping coverage.
Sourcing standards
We research claims against horticultural extension resources, grower references, and other authoritative sources, and we write content in our own words rather than closely paraphrasing or reproducing source material. Where a claim is genuinely uncertain or contested — such as some fertilizer or humidity effects — we say so rather than presenting it as settled fact.
Distinguishing fact, recommendation, and opinion
Where a guide makes a factual claim (e.g., "true lilies are toxic to cats"), we intend that claim to be verifiable and sourced. Where a guide makes a recommendation (e.g., "start with a spider plant"), that reflects editorial judgment about what tends to work well for beginners, not a claim of universal fact. We try to make this distinction clear in context rather than blending the two.
Updates and accuracy
Guides are reviewed periodically and updated when we identify outdated, incomplete, or incorrect information. See our Fact-Checking Policy and Corrections Policy for more on this process.
