Fact-Checking Policy

Our approach

Every CloverBear guide is checked for factual accuracy before publication, with particular attention to claims that could affect a reader's plants, pets, or household safety — toxicity information, watering guidance that could lead to plant loss, and similar higher-stakes claims receive extra scrutiny.

What we check

• Plant toxicity claims are cross-checked against the ASPCA's published toxic and non-toxic plant database.
• Care claims (watering intervals, light requirements, propagation timelines) are checked against horticultural extension resources and grower references rather than only competitor content.
• Scientific claims, such as the NASA Clean Air Study discussion in our bedroom plants guide, are checked against the original research and relevant follow-up analysis, not just how the claim is commonly repeated.
• Statistics and specific numbers are only included when we can trace them to a credible source; we avoid inventing or estimating precise figures.

What we don't do

We don't fabricate research, testing results, or expert quotes. Where we haven't personally tested a claim (for example, a specific product's performance), we avoid phrasing that implies we have.

Corrections
